Ringo is one of the most sweet, safe, kind, professional and gentle geldings you will ever have the pleasure to meet. Ideal for every member of the family - he will patiently babysit your youngest child or safely take your grandmother on a trail! He has never, ever pinned his ears at a person let alone offered any bad behavior such as biting or kicking.
We have a 40 minute video that speaks volumes about Ringo. Rather than try to describe in words just how beautiful this boy is (inside and out), you can see for yourself. We give a full introduction to him which includes his temperament, suitability and history. We show him in cross-ties, being groomed, feet picked up and fly sprayed. He is wrapped and tacked up. His desensitization is proven through walking on tarp, slamming a truck door next to him, playing music extremely loudly and beeping a horn. We also load him in a trailer and start a tractor next to him, whilst mounted. We show how he stands for mounting and a little work in the arena and then working out in an open wide pasture at walk, his faster gait and then canter.

We are not familiar with the Rocky Mountain Gaited Horse breed, although we are all very impressed with the breed characteristics. In researching the breed, we discovered that the Mountain Horses basic characteristics are described as a medium-sized horse of gentle temperament with an easy ambling four-beat gait. Ranging between 13.3 and 16 hands with small heads, short ears, widely spaced eyes, and soft expressions. Their profiles are usually straight or slightly convex just above the nostrils. Mountain horses are known for their long life span. The breed is best known for gentleness. It is an easy keeper and a wonderful riding horse with a strong heart and endurance.
The Rocky Mountain Gaited Horse is being used today as a pleasure horse, for trail, and competitive or endurance riding. As show horses, the breed is rapidly gaining in popularity because of its beauty and unique way of moving in the ring. The calm temperament of this horse makes it ideally suited for working around cattle and for 4-H projects. Rocky Mountain Horses have a lot of natural endurance, they are sure-footed on rough ground and, because of their gait, they require a minimum of effort by both horse and rider so that together they can cover a greater distance with less tiring.
In 1986 Rocky Mountain Horse Association was formed. The association has established a registry with standards be maintained and a panel of examiners has been set up by the association to provide vigorous supervisors to the growth and development of the breed. To achieve this, ALL horses must be examined for breed characteristics and approved prior to breeding. The established characteristics for the breed are:
1. The horse must be of medium height from 14-2 to 16 hands, a wide chest sloping 45 degrees on the shoulder with bold eyes and well shaped ears.
2. The horse must have a natural ambling four-beat gait (single foot or rack) with no evidence of pacing. When the horse moves you can count four distinct hoof beats which produce a cadence of equal rhythm, just like a walk: left hind, left fore, right hind, right fore. Each individual horse has its own speed and natural way of going, traveling 7-20 miles per hour. This is a naturally occurring gait present from birth that does not require any training aids or action devices (i.e. chains, soring or built up shoes.)
3. It must be of good temperament and easy to manage.
4. All Rocky Mountain HorsesĀ® have a solid body color. Facial markings are acceptable so long as they are not excessive. There may not be any white above the knee or hock.
The Rocky Mountain HorseĀ® is a certification mark issued to the Rocky Mountain Horse Association by the U.S. Patent office. This name may be applied only to those horses registered by the Rocky Mountain Horse Association.

Ringo is very ready for a loving family of his own. As you see in the video, he just loves every second of being groomed, handled, bathed and pampered. He really is very social, relaxed, calm and gentle. He is gentle with other horses, unfortunately, he tends to be the one that gets beaten up. He would be fine turned out with a very gentle and docile pasture buddy, but they would have to separated at feeding time. Ringo gets a little dominant toward other horses as feeding time. At this time, we turn him out alone as he does not seem to understand that other horses can hurt him.
Ringo has impeccable ground manners. I would trust him with the smallest child for grooming, bathing and tacking up. He is excellent with the farrier and vet, too. He is wise and seasoned enough for a beginner rider and he is beautifully forward for a more advanced rider. He goes out alone or with others on the trail, but can get a little barn sour. In his case of being barn sour, it is not that he turns and bolts back toward the barn, but when he is alone, he is more reluctant to go forward. He will be obedient but it would be great if he had a trail buddy to go out with as he really is a super ride.
He is incredibly smooth, light in the mouth and his canter is very balanced and easy. He stops very easily and never gets strong nor tries to run through the bit. He has never bucked, reared, kicked out, spooked, shied or napped under saddle. He has been an absolute pleasure. I feel that he has had some excellent training at some point in his career.
Ringo is up to date on his coggins, farrier and wormer. He is currently barefoot and trimmed on a five weekly basis. His vaccinations will be due and I would recommend the teeth are floated.
Ringo is only for sale to an approved, loving and permanent home. He really is a super pony with the sweetest temperament. As Ringo is one of our rescues, we would love to see him in an especially loving and attentive home where his family will appreciate that he has missed out on a lot of love and he has an abundance of love to give.
