“Garth” is a big, strong, sound gelding with a laid back attitude. Up until Spring 2009, Garth had limited exposure to different places and riding situations. Since being put back into training, he has proved he is a quick learner and wants to please. For a big horse, he is light in the bridle and is not hard to handle, goes in a snaffle on a loose rein or on the bit. He has excellent ground manners as well. He has had 30 days of groundwork and another 90 solid days of riding since being brought back into training. knows his leads, excellent simple changes, turns over the fore and haunches, leg yield, GREAT stop from a lope. Stops on a dime everytime, just sit down and say 'whoa'
Has been ridden indoors, outdoors, on the trail, bareback, with others and without, and has recently participated in a cattle drive. He is currently being ridden western, but has some basic dressage training, and will start English training early November 2009. Garth could go either english or western. He is smooth with a jog and lope you can sit all day. Lope him out in a field on a loose rein.
Garth would be best suited to a rider with experience, only because of his limited exposure for his age. Has no spook or buck in him. He’s easy to catch, tie, load, trim. He is also great in a herd as he is very kind to other horses and doesn’t fight. In general, Garth is a really nice boy to be around. I'm 5'2" and have no problems with this horse. UTD on all farrier work, vaccinations, deworming & dental (teeth done Oct 2009). Located in Olds AB Asking $4000 * price may increase as training progressess
