“Maybe” is a big bodied and attractive mare, basic-broke and ready for your program, athletic enough to be taken any direction. She is correct, flat kneed and naturally level with bloodlines that go back to many foundation greats, http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/joek+aces+maybellene. With an incredibly soft cadenced stride for such a big mare she will get noticed in any pen!

This quiet, kind hearted mare has impeccable ground manners. She hauls, clips, baths, ties and tacks with no issues. While here she has had no lameness issues or vices. Easy keeper and possesses a great attitude towards the other horses and all people. “Maybe” embraces any kind of attention and meets you at the gate daily.

This flashy mare is easy to get along with and EXTREMELY willing to learn. She has a quiet, trainable mind with a ''want to please'' attitude. Up until this point she has had limited riding and has not been in any type of “show-program”.

She takes every new request easily and is quickly learning the finishing concepts. She has been ridden mostly western but will definitely do the hunt seat as well! Her size and looks make her the ideal all around prospect. “Maybe” will continue being ridden until sold. She will be started on the HUS and Showmanship. Price will increase with training.

Here's an incredible opportunity to own, finish and show a true diamond-in-the-rough! She has the potential to be an awesome all-arounder with the right hands and just a bit of time! She is priced to sell in the hopes that this mare go to a show home and be given the opportunity to learn and excel.

Photos and video:

Once I can get some help to video and more photos, I will be taking some ridding footage. I am also planning on getting some more confirmation shots and HUS photos as well. Maybe’s History:

She has been with me here in Olds, AB since the beginning of October 2009. I saw her in a friends pasture down south and she instantly caught my attention. He has 15+ head and has no time for her, so I brought her home to see what she could do. He purchased her as a 7y.o., when she came her feet were in poor condition (no heels at all) and he spent 10 months trimming and building her heels up. In the spring of 2009 he used her to lead his 4-H group and then in June she went to ride community pasture all summer – were
she was used to rope and drag – she had the month of September off, turned out before coming home with me in October. When he bought Maybe he was told that she was bought as a 2 y.o. for $4000 - halter broke. The owner at that time didn't do much with her until 4 (minimal stuff), then sent her away spring of 4 y.o to a trainer. Apparently they spent 3-4 thousand on training, then sold her. The people purchased her at that time did not have a lot of horse experience so she sat in a pasture until she was seven and was basically a pet.

Since with me:

This mare shows great potential and is HIGHLY trainable. For those who do not know me, as a seasoned AQHA and now ApHC as well, amateur all-around competitor I have ridden my share of talented horses. I will give you a bit of my background so that you may better understand my opinions and expectations of Maybe. I have shown at the local, national, international and congress levels. Showing is halter, showmanship, hunter under saddle, huntseat eq, western pleasure, horsemanship, trail and western riding for over 20 years.
Since Maybe has been here she has been extremely willing to do everything I ask…even if it is something completely foreign to her. She is currently on a full-time program the same as my other two all-around mares. Worked 4 days a week (either ridden or lunged bit up), Free lunged/showmanship 2 times a week, 1day off/play day in the arena(mostly she just rolls and then walks around eating).

She is currently outside in a pen with winter blankets, but comes into the barn daily to either be worked or just groomed on her off day. She is stalled each evening on her working days and has no issues with being inside – settles right in to the stall. Because my horses are all groomed on a daily basis and I spend a lot of time with them– I can attest to this mare’s tremendous ground manners. She ties, grooms, baths, picks feet, clips (I am a compulsive bridle path clipper), blankets and tacks with no issues what so ever!

Previously she has been basic broke walk-trot-lope-stop-back and since being here has shown no spookiness or run-off of any kind. At some point in her younger years I would suspect that someone had been hard/rough with her mouth because for the first little bit she was pretty nervous about any kind of pressure on her face. Now that she has realized that I am soft handed and she can relax it has been super easy to gain her trust and you can easily take a hold of her mouth. Right now we are working at getting her fit, building some muscle tone and on pushing her up into the bridle, getting her to drop and frame up. She is responding fabulously. She is super soft mouthed, I am currently going back and fourth between a smooth and a slowtwisted snaffle. I have been ridding her with and without drawlines…and she takes it all. She is super responsive to lifting her back up underneath the tips of your spurs. She lands so softly, when she sets her legs – amazing for such a big bodied mare. We have started working over some poles and the week of Oct 18 –began riding english.

She is proving to be super quite and really laid back. I try to through new things at her everyday…even as simple as swinging up on her bareback to head from the pen to the barn. She is taking it all with no fuss.

I have only had the experience to watch her with kids a few times …and on the ground she was amazing with the kids that were visiting, she’ll would have stood there and let them pet her for hours…she brought her head way down to their level. She stayed super still and quiet with them. I turned away for a second and one little girl was standing under her belly scratching her. I am unsure if she was ever ridden by children in her past, I know that while with me she won’t be…. because I don’t have any.

She is an easy keeper. Right now she is bare-foot. I am considering front shoes, as there is quite a lot of large gravel in the yard. Eating 2-3 flakes alfalfa/timothy, 1 c flax & 2c rice bran 2x/day. She is up to date on shots, worming & farrier and will be kept that way until sold. A coggins can be obtained if required. She has been 100% sound while with me and shown now issues at all.

The only reason this mare is leaving my barn is because there is just no possible way I can show three allaround horses. I am already showing both my AQHA and my ApHC mares for the upcoming 2010 season and there simply isn’t enough weekends to add APHA/PtHA shows as well. Maybe deserves to go to someone who has time just for her! She is so willing and super sweet…she relishes any attention you give her. Although she is big and athletic enough to be taken any direction, I really do believe that she would excel in some type of show home – with an all-around future. All it would take would be someone who has the time and the knowledge to finish her off.

This mares only fault is sitting unused for so long.
