Mae is a BLM branded Mustang filly. She was wild caught in December of '07, and I got her wild from the BLM for the Extreme Mustang Makeover (www.extrememustangmakeover.com) in May of '08. We competed in the Mission 007 Yearling Edition where she was the 4th place horse and a money winner. I adopted her after the competition as not many horses have impressed me as much as she did, and I was anxious to have her as my personal riding horse and clinic horse. She just hasn't gotten tall enough for me, and I'm sure she will stay pony sized now. I don't have children, and she is too small for me, so I regretfully must let her go.
She has as much training as a horse her age and size can at the time, you won't be disappointed. Her ground manners are excellent. She is great for the farrier, loads in any type of trailer, hauls like a pro, can tie anywhere, is great in the wash rack and with the clippers, easy in the round pen and very well socialized. She has been saddled several times, but not ridden yet. She is more attractive than one might expect for a Mustang, and is loaded with personality and brains both. She isn't afraid of much, and has never been spoiled in any way. She knows her manners and is very respectful. Because she's young and bold though, she does need someone experienced with youngsters to continue her training and stay firm with her.
I think Mae would be a good western pony if someone wanted to go that route as she shows a lot of athleticism and will be a big stopper. However, she moves like a little hunter and loves the free jumping she's done, so her potential is wide open. She is low maintenance as well, and has the best feet you could ever ask for. She will not need shoes, not even in the toughest terrain. The pics below are from this time last year. She has grown some in height and filled out a bit as well, but doesn't look too much different overall. She's currently turned out and already fuzzy (Nevada winters are cold!) and MUDDY at the time, but I'd be happy to snap some current photos for anyone interested. I know this horse, I know her talent, I know what she was and what she's become, but I do know what the market is, and in the broad scheme of things, she's just a baby Mustang to the rest of the world. ;) I will not be offended by any offer, so please feel free if you are interested, to come see her and tell me what she's worth to you. If she doesn't sell, I will start her, but I train horses, and the plumber's pipes are always the ones that leak so hoping to sell her first. When she is riding, I will re-evaluate her and price accordingly, either way.
Below are links to her videos on youtube, also from last year, both preparing for the Extreme Mustang Makeover, and also her freestyle performance. BTW, she rides out of the arena on a flatbed trailer. ;) She's a fun, fun girl. (if her links don't show up, you can search "Mae Mustang Makeover" on youtube and find her there) **She will sell with free and clear BLM title.
