We are very pleased to offer our prized purebred filly, BenMar Nightingale, for sale. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for a top quality foundation broodmare prospect, competition and family horse. The only reason Nightingale is being sold is that she can't be bred back to our resident stallion and her sire, Bridon Belfrey, RID. Nightingale is a 2008 Purebred Irish Draught Black Filly that will Grey. She is by Bridon Belfrey, RID out of our Hornby Premium Mare, Roma Blue Hawk, RID.

This combination has produced our Ideal Irish Draught. Nightingale has exceeded our expectations since birth. She is the rare filly that combines regal presence, outstanding conformation and extraordinary elastic movement. We consider her an ideal foundation broodmare prospect for the Irish Draught breed since her strength of pedigree and inherent qualities are likely to produce well with any stallion she is put to.

Nightingale is out of our internationally acclaimed Hornby Premium Mare, Roma Blue Hawk, RID. Multi National Champion in England, Roma Blue Hawk, RID is sired by Grade A International Show Jumper, Rakish Paddy, RID who was also multi National Champion on the line. Blue's Dam, Roma Blue Wind, RID, is known as one of the greatest Irish Draught Mares in history and multi National Champion in two countries. Blue's Dam line is extremely unique for the fact that the last 3 generations were all Hornby Premiums and all Hornby Premium producers.

Blue produced the wildly popular Approved RID Stallion son, Harkaway LionHawk, RID who won multiple championships and was Reserve Supreme Champion at the 2004 IDHSNA National Show. Inspectors were so impressed with Nightingale's ¾ brother, they compared him to the great Blue Peter, RID.

Nightingale's sire, Bridon Belfrey, RID, won Best North American Bred Champion and Champion Purebred Weanling at the 2001 IDHSNA National Show. He went on to help win the Best Get of Sire representing his multi Champion and multi Champion producing sire, Snowford Bellman, RID. Belfrey impressed the judges at his 2004 inspections with his powerful scopey jump as they kept raising the bar. Belfrey is highly regarded internationally by judges, Top Irish Draught breeders and spectators alike for his great beauty, presence, athleticism, movement and kind, gentle nature and ability to consistently pass these qualities onto his offspring.

BenMar Nightingale, ID is the best of both of her parents. She trots with tremendous suspension and has an enormous extension and elevated canter that would make her competitive in open dressage competition. Her athleticism, stride and incredibly free shoulder make her suitable as a powerful, scopey jumper. She is showered in talent and ability, yet her temperament is that of an adoring Labrador Retriever...and yes, she is most helpful in retrieving tools and anything else you might need!

Nightingale is a gifted athlete with presence and kind, gentle temperament. She is the perfect family horse who would enjoy long trail rides and hanging out with her owners. Her bloodlines are nearly a total outcross with only one cross back in the 4th generation to King of Diamonds. She also carries the very distinguished jumping lines of Laughton and rare lines of Atlantic Boy and Windgap Hero.

Nightingale will be a color producer, being able to produce blacks, bays, chestnuts as well as greys. She carries the rare black gene on both sides of her pedigree.
